A first-year middle school student in Agios Nikolaos, Lasithi, experienced a nightmare both inside and outside of school when he was attacked by a group of his classmates.
The boy, born in 2014, was targeted by a group of underage students of Albanian descent, for reasons that have not yet been clarified, according to the local website cretalive.gr.
The incident began inside the school, where the minors surrounded the student and began hurling insults at him. The tension, however, continued even after school let out.
The students waited for the 12-year-old outside the school, and as soon as he had walked about 20 meters away, they attacked him with punches. According to reports, two minors were beating him, while a third recorded the attack on his cell phone and posted clips on a social media app.
The incident was reported to the police, and the Agios Nikolaos Crime Investigation and Prosecution Sub-Directorate responded immediately.
Police arrested the three minors involved in the case, as well as their parents, bringing the total number of arrests to eight.
