Mikel Arteta has put an end to speculation about his future at Arsenal by agreeing to a new, improved contract with the “Gunners.” The new deal is expected to keep him in London at least until the summer of 2030 and includes a significant pay raise.

The Spanish coach, who took over in December 2019, now has a contract with the club through 2030, with an annual salary of approximately 20.1 million euros, which could reach 23.6 million euros including bonuses. This represents a significant increase compared to his previous contract, which provided for 11.8 million euros per year, plus an additional 5.9 million euros in bonuses.

As a result, the 44-year-old Arteta surpasses Nottingham Forest’s Oliver Glasner as the highest-paid coach in the league. Former Crystal Palace coach Glasner earns 15 million euros per season plus 2 million euros in potential bonuses.

“It is an honor to dedicate my future to the club and to continue working with exceptional people who want the best for Arsenal. This club is unique—its character and the way it makes you feel—and I feel truly privileged that our journey together will continue.

We’ve already built a special bond and created memories that will last a lifetime, and what’s so exciting is that this is just the beginning of what we can achieve together. I am incredibly grateful to Stan and Josh for their trust and support, and I am honored to lead this club during such a special period in its 140-year history.

This is such a proud moment for me and my family. I feel the love and respect from our fantastic supporters, and they have mine—and ours—in return,”, he emphasized in his first remarks following the renewal of his contract with the London club.

The Spaniard took over from Unai Emery in December 2019 for his first coaching job, having previously worked under Pep Guardiola as an assistant coach at Manchester City. He won the FA Cup at the end of his first season, but then had to wait six years to add more trophies to the club’s collection. However, winning the league title—which put an end to the long wait—further cemented Arteta’s popularity in North London.
