The Cyprus Volleyball Federation has taken a stance on the issue regarding “Spyros Kyprianou,” which is set to become Maccabi Tel Aviv’s home venue in the Euroleague.
Specifically, following AEL’s announcement, they note that they were never asked to express any opinion on this decision, since the stadium is managed exclusively by the Cyprus Olympic Committee (KOA). Furthermore, the Limassol-based team did not contact them before issuing the announcement in question.
Here is what they state in the announcement: “Following the announcement by Robomarket AEL regarding the use of the ‘Spyros Kyprianou’ Arena as Maccabi Tel Aviv’s home venue for the EuroLeague, we wish to note the following:
As the Cyprus Volleyball Federation, we were never asked to express our opinion on this matter, nor have we issued any statement.
The “Spyros Kyprianou” arena is managed exclusively by the Cyprus Sports Organization.
Robomarket AEL never contacted the Federation prior to its announcement to express its concerns or to request assistance in addressing its requests.
The president will also meet tomorrow with the President of the Cyprus Sports Organization to discuss this matter.”
