The Cyprus Electricity Authority (CEA) announced scheduled flights of unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) for the purpose of inspecting the electricity distribution network.
In a statement, the EAC notes that drone flights will take place in the following areas:
October 8, 2026, between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.: Omonia and Chalkoutsa.
October 8–21, 2026: Ypsona Industrial Area, Alassa, Monagri, Doros, Trimiklini, Saitas, Kato Amiantos, Platania, Kakopetria, Galata, Mount Sina, and Tembria.
According to the EAC, the flights will be of short duration and will be limited to areas where inspection of the power grid and related equipment is required.
It adds that the flights will be conducted in accordance with the current regulatory and legislative framework governing the operation of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAS) and exclusively for the aforementioned operational purposes.
