According to relevant sources in both countries, the issuance of the Navtex regarding the continuation of seabed surveys for the Greece – Cyprus is, according to relevant sources from both countries, “a matter of days,” without—as they pointed out—permission being sought from Turkey.
At the same time, the European Investment Bank is expected to complete the project’s economic and technical feasibility study, and the Republic of Cyprus is expected to pay a 25 million from the Republic of Cyprus to ADMIE for expenses already incurred.
Meanwhile, the Vertical Natural Gas Corridor, for which the process of collecting data from countries in the region is currently underway; this data will be used to determine the necessary investments to strengthen the networks in order to meet demand in anticipation of 2027 and the cessation of Russian natural gas imports to the EU.
A new meeting of the natural gas system operators from the countries participating in the project will take place in Sofia in January.
DESFA CEO Maria Sferoutsa also emphasized that efforts are being made to optimize the efficiency of existing infrastructure before proceeding with the construction of new facilities.
