The atmosphere in Real Madrid’s locker room appears to remain particularly tense, with Spanish media even reporting an altercation between two players, while José Mourinho has so far been unable to turn things around.
Real Madrid returns to action after a three-week break, facing a particularly demanding schedule. Following their 2-1 loss to Atlético before the break, the Madrid side faces Villarreal, followed by crucial matches against Roma, Sevilla, and Leipzig, before the Clásico against Barcelona on October 25.
According to Cadena SER, however, the biggest problem right now lies within the team. “The atmosphere in the locker room remains just as frosty as it was five months ago,” reported journalist Antón Meana on the show “El Larguero.”
In fact, the Spanish media outlet claims that two players even came to blows, though their names were not disclosed. Despite Mourinho’s arrival this summer, the situation within the team does not appear to have changed significantly. At the same time, Kylian Mbappé has found himself in the spotlight for off-field reasons. The Frenchman returned to training after his injury, but recently, a night out at a nightclub, a social media post, and the general lack of clarity surrounding his injury have sparked controversy.
Mourinho reportedly had a private conversation with him, asking him to be more careful off the field. Despite the commotion, Real Madrid insists that there is no official issue with Mbappé and believes he is normally available, with Mourinho seriously considering the possibility of starting him against Villarreal.
The only certainty is that the Portuguese coach is facing a demanding October, with problems extending beyond just the on-field aspect.
