A Russian couple experienced a nightmare at 3 a.m.
Five hooded assailants appear to have carried out a targeted attack by breaking into their mansion in the Sfalangiotissa area of Agios Athanasios. They burst into the bedroom while the couple was asleep and, brandishing a pistol and a knife, took the two victims by surprise.
“According to the testimony, after they had immobilized and tied up her husband, they demanded that she open the safe located in their bedroom, from which they stole approximately 5,000 euros in cash as well as various pieces of gold jewelry. They then tied her up with duct tape and fled the scene.”

According to reports, the 43-year-old Russian businessman was investigated in 2024 for money laundering after a large sum of money was found in his possession and seized. Following the investigation, the large sum of money was returned to him.
The perpetrators’ movements were recorded by security cameras both at the residence and at neighboring properties. Sources do not rule out the possibility that they are Greek Cypriots.
