The goal of pension reform is slipping further and further out of reach.
“The Cabinet met today; the next meeting is next Tuesday, and the one after that is, I believe, Wednesday. We’ll see when the legal review is ready and proceed accordingly.”
Marinos Mousiouttas – Minister of Labor
Although the Minister attributed the delay to the Legal Service and a delay in the legal review, however, the groundwork was not laid for the proposal to be accepted by the coalition partners. In fact, Marinos Mousiouttas deliberately chose to hold a new consultation with them today, while the Cabinet meeting was in progress.
“There will be more consultations than the one held 1.5–2 months ago with the social partners.”
Marinos Mousiouttas – Minister of Labor
Today’s session was a marathon. The social partners presented their proposals, and the Ministry’s responses will follow in subsequent sessions.
