There was a strong police presence and activity throughout Cyprus last night, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and enhancing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive police operations, five individuals were arrested for various offenses, including illegal possession of property, illegal possession and use of drugs, untaxed tobacco products, and assault resulting in actual bodily injury.
As part of these operations, 282 drivers and 68 passengers were stopped and checked overnight. At the same time, 43 premises were inspected to combat illegal activities, resulting in one complaint.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 260 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and 10 cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Of the citations issued, 82 were for speeding, and 10 vehicles were impounded as part of police investigations.
A total of 122 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in three citations. Three preliminary drug tests yielded positive results.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
