“Stay united, enjoy the journey, and smile,” was Erling Haaland’s message to Manchester City fans. The club has appealed the decision of an independent committee, which found it guilty of all serious breaches of the Premier League’s financial regulations.
The “Citizens” insist on their innocence, characterizing the ruling against them as an “opinion” and arguing that it contains “clear and material errors regarding the law, principles, and the facts,” and therefore cannot be considered reliable.
The independent commission found that, from the 2009–10 season through the 2017–18 season, Manchester City had entered into “fictitious” contracts with several of its commercial partners as part of a “covert financing scheme,” with the aim of artificially inflating the club’s revenue by 850 million euros.
Amid all these off-field developments, Haaland and his teammates will travel to “Anfield” on Sunday (October 11, 6:30 p.m.). When asked what he would say to City fans ahead of the match, the Norwegian replied: “They’ll have a great time.”
"We have to stay positive, look ahead, and try to win soccer games."

“We have to stay united. We have to stand by one another and stay positive. No matter what happens in life, we must always smile.
So we need to stay positive, look ahead, and try to win our games, while enjoying the moment and fighting for victory. We need to stay united and show love for one another. So, yes: let’s stay united, enjoy the journey, and smile.”
Haaland, the son of former City player Alf-Inge Haaland, has stated that he considers himself a fan of the team, while also referring to his connection to Manchester. “I care a lot about the city, I have to say. I care a lot about the fans, because I’m a fan myself and I feel the same way they do.”
