An excavator sustained extensive damage from a fire that broke out on Thursday at a facility in the Larnaca Free Trade Zone. Two warehouses storing animal feed were also affected by the smoke.
In a statement, the Fire Department reported that the call was received at 6:30 p.m. regarding a fire in an excavator inside the premises, and that the Larnaca Fire Stations responded with four fire trucks. The fire was brought under control at 7:06 p.m., and at the time the fire broke out, the premises in question were closed.
It should be noted that the excavator sustained extensive damage from the fire and heat, while two animal feed warehouses were affected by the smoke.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is expected to follow, in cooperation with the relevant authorities.

Furthermore, it is reported that from 6:00 a.m. on October 8, 2026, through 6:00 a.m. on October 9, 2026, responded to 30 calls for assistance (12 fires, 13 special services, and 5 false alarms).
