Petevinos on the resumption, team news, and investment

APOEL spokesperson's statement
ALPHANEWSLIVE

APOEL’s press officer, Nektarios Petevinos, spoke to “SPOR FM 95.0” about everything related to the team.

Here are his comments in detail

On the break: “Let me remind you of something our coach said at the last press conference before the break. The coach knows best what the roster needs and each player’s level of readiness, and what we wanted was to integrate players into the team and give some of the younger players time to catch up on their trainingand get them on the verge of returning, such as Marquinhos and Mancini. They’ll definitely need to get back into the rhythm of competition, but they’ll help us a lot. Carillo is ready, as is Bakasetas. We also played the friendly against ENY, and the coach tried out a few things.”

On the match against Nea Salamina: “We’re all focused on tomorrow’s game. I have a lot of faith in the quality of the team and its potential. If these players manage to create a team spirit, APOEL has nothing to fear from anyone. The goal is to fight for what we want. We’re not playing against an inexperienced team. They came from a league they dominated; they have their own goals. You have to play hard from the first minute to the last. We want the win because we’re short on points.”

On our defensive performance: “What one can take away from these games is that in the games we lost—or in the game we didn’t win—this is clearly evident, and as our coach emphasized, defense starts with everyone. We’ve made some adjustments to our defense, and we’ll see how it goes.”

On Laifis: “We knew from the very beginning that he’d be out for three weeks. He’s training on his own, and we’ll see about the game against Paphos.”

On Piero: “We’ll see if he’s ready to play before the international break; if not, he’ll return after the November break.”

On Carillo: “He’s not a ‘beast’ of a center back; he comes from the Spanish school of soccer and is technically very skilled. The decision was also based on the way the coach wants to play.”

Regarding the investor: “As I mentioned, two processes are currently underway. From the day the Cyprus Football Association (CFA) and UEFA confirmed that if an agreement is reached, it will take effect next year, everyone has been working to finalize the process as quickly as possible. As far as the paperwork is concerned, this month is extremely important, as Mr. Petridis also said.”

Regarding the fans: “We’re expecting fans at the stadium. We’re approaching our 100th anniversary, and the preparations and events for the centennial will become even more intense. There was also a meeting regarding the events scheduled for both November 7 and November 8. We’re approaching 9,500 season tickets, and people want to take part in these events.”
