The police arrested a 50-year-old man yesterday in the Nicosia district as part of an investigation into the theft of two bicycles.
Following reports of bicycle thefts that occurred early yesterday morning, police officers, after evaluating the information, conducted a search last night a search of a 50-year-old man’s apartment in Nicosia. During the search, a bicycle and a helmet were found and seized; the 50-year-old man was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for how they came to be in his possession.
In addition, two bicycles—which had been reported as stolen—were found in a common area of the apartment building where the 50-year-old resides. As a result, the 50-year-old was arrested for the flagrant offense of unlawful possession of property and was taken into custody to facilitate the investigation.
The suspect was brought before the Nicosia District Court today, which issued a five-day detention order against him.
The Nicosia Central Police Station is continuing its investigation.
