The day after and the road to the polls for DISY: Averof, pamporidis, and ionas

Introversion remains at pindarou
ALPHANEWSLIVE

Until yesterday morning, the media were focusing on the number of candidates vying for the DISY nomination for the presidential election.

In other words, whether there would be two or three candidates. The question remains the same, except that Anita Dimitriou has now entered the fray, and it’s not out of the question that Ionas Nikolaou might do the same in the coming hours.

Beyond that, Averof Neophytou and Giorgos Pamporidis, now confirmed and without any further qualifications, will submit their candidacies on October 26 and will be on the internal party ballot on November 28.

Until then, the only thing Anita Dimitriou can guarantee, as she herself emphasizes, is unity—which, by general admission, is currently lacking.

“Let the internal party process take place; let there be a commitment to support, and both the president and the leadership will stand here as guarantors of unity until the very end.” Anita Dimitriou, President of DISY

Averof Neophytou

Averof Neophytou and his associates are continuing as usual to collect signatures for his candidacy.

In fact, sources within DISY believe that he currently appears to be one step ahead in terms of the organizational work carried out within the party.

He chose, however, to stay out of the media spotlight today, while in his latest online post, he focused on the core principles of his own candidacy.

“I stand with the call from a large segment of our compatriots for a national awakening that will pull us out of the lethargy of passivity.” Averof Neophytou, Former President of DISY

George Pamborides

“Pamborides will not withdraw from the process.” George Pamborides

With these remarks, George Pamporidis is stepping up his campaign day by day as he moves toward the party’s internal selection process.

“There was no response to my proposal; I will not withdraw, and I will remain a candidate until the very end.” George Pamporidis

He also explained that stepping down was never an option for him, unless Averof Neophytou accepted the proposal for both of them to step aside so that the party president could receive the nomination.

Ionas Nikolaou

What remains to be seen in the coming days is whether Ionas Nikolaou will ultimately officially express his interest or not.

The former minister confirmed to Alpha both that he had received the relevant documents for submitting his candidacy and that he is currently interested.

He urged patience, however, as he has not yet made his final decisions, and he noted that his own interest is not linked to the withdrawal of the party president’s candidacy, as he received the documents before yesterday’s developments.
