An earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale struck the southern coast of Panama, causing panic in the capital and triggering the U.S. tsunami warning system, which announced the possibility of waves reaching the coasts of nine countries.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the strong tremor was felt in Panama City, while its epicenter was located in the southern coastal region of the country.
