The ball is back in play!
Krasava ENY and Apollon face off today (10/10, 6:00 p.m.) at “Ammochostos” Stadium for Matchday 5 of the Cyprus League by Stoiximan. The two teams are in very different… situations, but they share the common goal of showing improvement as the season resumes.
The home team has not gotten off to a good start at all in this year’s “marathon,” as they are the only team with zero points and the worst goal differential, having seen the ball find the back of their net ten (!) times.
During the break, the front office, in an effort to turn things around, removed Ivan Stojković from the bench, with Fernández Romo taking the reins. The 47-year-old had one week to work with his new squad and hopes to earn points in his debut.
On the other hand, the “blue-and-whites” are coming off a “satisfying” draw (2-2) against APOEL and have only one goal: to live up to expectations and get back on the path to success.
The three-week break was beneficial for the Limassol team, as it gave them much-needed breathing room following a grueling start with four consecutive derbies, while also buying time for injured players to return and bolster Hernán Lozada’s… roster. Specifically, Gaspar, Ljubic, Brown, and Ozbolt are once again available to him.
Beyond that, this match is significant for the Argentine coach and brings back fond memories, since he made his debut with Apollon at the same stadium against the same opponent last season.
It was on December 21, 2025, when, in the 15th matchday, the the “Blue-and-Whites” defeated Krasava ENY 1-0, marking a victorious start to the 44-year-old’s tenure on the bench. At the same time, those three points marked the start of an impressive 17-game unbeaten streak.
