A large-scale military operation against the Houthi rebel movement, was announced on Friday by the Saudi-led military coalition, which intervened in the Yemeni war in 2015.
According to the announcement, the operation targets “elements and capabilities” of the movement, which is aligned with Iran.
The coalition’s spokesperson, Saudi Colonel Nouri al-Maliki, stated that 136 military targets were destroyed in areas controlled by the Houthis, with particular emphasis on their ballistic missile network.
At the same time, he confirmed that the coalition is providing 24-hour air support to the forces of Yemen’s internationally recognized government, which is backed by Riyadh.
Saudi Arabia had led the military intervention in Yemen in 2015, as part of the conflict with the Houthi rebels, who control large swaths of the country.
