A fire broke out first thing in the morning in the basement of a home in Lakatamia.
According to a post by Fire Department spokesperson Andreas Kettis, the fire broke out around 8:05 a.m. in the basement, which is used as living quarters.

The fire caused extensive damage to the entire contents of the residence, while the ground floor and first floor of the building were affected by the heat and smoke.
The tenant was absent at the time the fire broke out.
The exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
