A court today issued an eight-day detention order against a 47-year-old man in connection with an attempted murder case in Limassol, according to a police statement.

The attempted murder is alleged to have taken place on Thursday. According to the police, at around 8:15 a.m., a report was received that there was an injured person at a building under construction in Limassol. Police officers immediately went to the scene, where they conducted an investigation.

According to the evidence under investigation, two men, aged 44 and 47, reportedly got into an altercation, resulting in the 47-year-old pulling out a construction knife and seriously injuring the 44-year-old in the abdomen.

An ambulance was called to the scene and transported the injured man to a private clinic in Limassol. The 44-year-old underwent surgery and is being treated; his condition is stable and he is out of danger.

The alleged perpetrator initially fled the scene but was arrested the following day. The Limassol Criminal Investigation Department is continuing its investigation.

Meanwhile, a police update states that two individuals arrested yesterday in Limassol for possession of more than one kilogram of drugs were brought before a judge today, which issued a six-day detention order against them.
