The international break has come to an end, and the return to normalcy—as well as to the reality of Greek soccer—is now a reality.
For Matchday 6 of the Stoiximan Super League, PAOK will host Kalamata in a match that will bring the round to a close.
In a season that began with difficulties, the “Double-Headed Eagle of the North” has managed to find its footing in the Greek league and is now just a breath away from the top of the standings. In five matches, the “Black-and-Whites” have lost only to league-leading Panathinaikos at OAKA (3-1), while they have defeated Levadiakos (4-0), Atromitos (1-2), Aris (2-0), and Panetolikos (1-3), showing that they have put their difficult start behind them.
On the field, Alessio Lisi will be without the injured Pavlenka and Taha Ali, who underwent shoulder surgery, as well as Despodov, who is on the road to recovery. Meanwhile, Meite, Chalov, and Sarris remain sidelined due to injuries that are keeping them out of action.
On the other hand, Kalamata, despite having performed quite well so far, sits in 11th place in the standings with just four points. The draw in Peristeri against Atromitos (1-1) and the victory over Volos (3-1) are their only positive results, as they were followed by losses to Aris (2-3), Panetolikos (2-0), and Panathinaikos (0-1).
On the field, Panagiotis Christofileas has reason to smile, as Kenneth Vargas has been included in the roster again after missing six matches due to injury. His return gives the team’s coach another option ahead of the tough match at Toumba.
Here is the full Kalamata roster:
