Severe injuries, suggesting multiple suspicious falls rather than any pathological cause related to the dialysis she was undergoing, were identified during the forensic examination conducted earlier today on the body of 51-year-old Ioanna, who died at a private clinic in Chalkidiki at noon on Monday.
The case is now being escalated in terms of the police investigation, as the causes of death are not related to the health condition suffered by the unfortunate Ioanna; but rather are characterized as extremely severe and repeated blows, possibly resulting from falls.
According to journalistic reports from iefimerida.gr, Ioanna A.’s body was examined at the Thessaloniki Medical Examiner’s Office, and as officers from the Polygyros Police Department in Chalkidiki were informed, her death was caused by multiple injuries to the chest and spine. Medical examiner Apostolia Akrivousi told the police officers handling the case that all the injuries were located on the right side of the body.
In fact, an interesting finding is that the ribs show fractures at different points on each bone, suggesting that the unfortunate woman fell more than once from a significant height.
Furthermore, according to the same report from iefimerida.gr, there is a spinal fracture—specifically, a broken vertebra—located in the thoracic region. The police asked whether these injuries could have been sustained during an attempt to resuscitate the patient using CPR, to which the experienced medical examiner replied in the negative, since all the injuries are on the right side of the body.
The case is now taking on new dimensions, and police officers are expected within the next hour to return to the private clinic in Chalkidiki where the unfortunate Ioanna died, for further investigations and witness statements regarding the case, while the Prosecutor’s Office is expected to be briefed on the results of the forensic examination.
