A barrage of unity messages from DISY; all scenarios are on the table for DIKO-DIPA

AKEL continues to review names
ALPHANEWSLIVE

With unity as its banner, Pindarou is moving forward through a series of announcements to its members, in an effort to prevent the atmosphere from being undermined again until the internal party elections, even though the factions behind closed doors—supporting one candidate or the other—have taken up “battle” positions.

On the Alpha News program, the head of the shadow cabinet commends Annita Dimitriou for withdrawing her candidacy in the interest of unity and calls for a focus on the substance of the issues rather than on what might be discussedat dinners or other gatherings.

“I don’t believe any of this talk about publishers and get-togethers, whether they took place at DISY the day before yesterday or at a fish tavern the day before that. For heaven’s sake, let’s not meet up and talk.”
Michalis Ioannidis

He reiterates his support for Giorgos Pamporidis, emphasizing, however, that this is his personal opinion.

“I’m Anita’s advisor; I advise Anita—she doesn’t tell me what to say in favor of one person or another. I do not represent the party; this is my personal opinion.”
Michalis Ioannidis

“To each his own,” says Nikos Christodoulides when asked about Annita Dimitriou’s withdrawal from the race.

“Why should I comment on a political leader’s decision? It’s her decision. Ms. Dimitriou has already explained her reasons, so I have nothing to add,”
Nikos Christodoulides

All Scenarios Under Scrutiny

There is concern within DIKO regarding the differing and conflicting views being expressed publicly about the party’s stance in 2028.

“If each of us starts speaking out, obviously people will then say, ‘I have my own personal preference as well.’”
Christiana Erotokritou – DIKO Member of Parliament

ELAM does not rule out supporting Nikos Christodoulides in the elections. Christos Christou of PLUS outlines the nature of his party’s relationship with the government.

ELAM does not hold any ministerial posts nor does it participate in the government, but we have supported the government when we believed its choices were correct, and we have opposed others. ”
Christos Christou – President of ELAM

Marios Karoyian does not rule out a joint candidacy with all the centrist forces, but he will make his decisions in the new year. Discontent regarding the presidency, however, remains.

“There is virtually no contact at the political level. We have a shared philosophy regarding how we would like these collaborations to be.”
Marios Karoyian – President of DIPA

For EDEK, the party constitution and the electoral convention are top priorities.

“The restructuring of our organizations takes precedence.”
Sofia Christodoulou – President of EDEK

At AKEL, the review of candidates continues, with the party urging a little patience.
