An unbelievable red card for Andrés Gómez in the match between Vasco da Gama and Boca Juniors at La Bombonera, in the Copa Sudamericana semifinals. The Colombian forward managed to receive two yellow cards in the same play, leaving his team down to ten men while they were leading 1-0.
The incident occurred in the 64th minute. Gómez fouled Askaršibar, prevented the quick restart, and got into a confrontation with his opponent, prompting Chilean referee Piero Massa to show him the first yellow card. The Vasco player continued to protest vehemently, repeatedly touched the referee and pushed him lightly, prompting Massa to immediately issue a second yellow card, sending him to the locker room.
