Applications for the renewal of certain categories of residence permits will be submitted exclusively online through the gov.cy government portal starting January 1, according to an announcement by the Immigration Department of the Deputy Ministry of Migration and International Protection.
The full transition to online application submission is part of the broader framework of digital transformation and modernization of government services promoted by the Government, the announcement notes. The measure aims, among other things, to further improve the quality and speed of service provided to citizens and businesses.
The service went live in July 2026 and allows for the online submission of applications to renew residence permits with the same employer for temporary residence permits for the purpose of salaried employment, temporary residence permits for domestic work, temporary residence permits for employees of foreign-owned companies, temporary residence permits for family reunification (for family members of long-term residents and employees of foreign-owned companies), residence permits for long-term residents.
Therefore, as of January 1, 2027, renewal applications for these specific categories of permits will be submitted exclusively through the gov.cy government portal, while in-person submissions at the Department’s service centers will no longer be accepted.
Further information and instructions on how to use the service are available through the gov.cy government portal.
Please note that access to e-services requires the creation and verification of a CY Login account, the unified electronic authentication system for secure access to the government’s digital services. More information on the process of creating and verifying a CY Login account is also available through the government portal gov.cy.
