*Press Release

By actively investing in the quality of life and improving the daily lives of its residents, the Municipality of South Nicosia-Idali has built and upgraded 23 parks across all six of its municipal districts, creating modern spaces for recreation, play, and social interaction.

The primary focus has been on functionality, safety, and creating a suitable environment for children, families, and all residents.

Particular emphasis was placed on improving and modernizing the playgrounds so that the play areas meet current requirements and European safety standards, while special shock-absorbing surfaces have been installed to provide even greater protection for children.

Through the creation and redesign of parks, the Municipality aims to provide every neighborhood with new and upgraded infrastructure that contributes to enhancing the appearance, functionality, and accessibility of public spaces.

It is worth noting that the Municipality of South Nicosia-Idali has already taken steps to further enhance the urban amenities in all 23 of these parks, making them even more beautiful, functional, and welcoming. Additionally, it is in the process of creating two more large parks, and plans to build two more by 2027, with the total cost of all four parks exceeding 600,000 euros. In fact, the Gialia River Linear Park will open in 2027, at a cost of over €6 million, which will include, among other things, three large playgrounds, a skatepark, as well as exercise and socialization areas.

These initiatives are part of the broader plan of the Municipality of South Nicosia – Idali to create a more people-friendly urban environment through projects that have a meaningful impact on residents’ lives and foster better conditions for current and future generations.
