There is widespread discontent within Real Madrid following the decision to suspend Vinícius Júnior for four matches, with the club’s official TV channel referring to a “war,” while questions were raised on social media regarding the timing of the penalty’s announcement.
RMTV reacted strongly to the Disciplinary Committee’s decision, arguing that the Brazilian is not adequately protected in the Spanish league compared to other stars. At the same time, the hosts criticized certain segments of the Spanish media, while comparing the treatment Vinícius receives in LaLiga to that he receives in European competitions.
José Mourinho also raised questions about the timing of the announcement of Vinícius’s suspension, who noted that the decision was made public just minutes before Real Madrid’s against Roma in the Champions League, expressing his puzzlement over the choice of that specific timing.
“Someone should ask the Spanish Referees’ Committee why it released the news about Vini’s suspension just a few minutes before an important Champions League match. Real Madrid is a Spanish club, so why announce it now?” the Portuguese coach explained in detail.
As a reminder, Vinícius was suspended for four matches following his red card in the match against Villarreal. The suspension will keep him out of the Clásico against Barcelona, as well as Real Madrid’s matches against Sevilla, Racing Santander, and Valencia.
