PAOK is entering the final stretch before Sunday’s derby against Heraklis at Toumba, for Matchday 7 of the Stoiximan Super League. The heavy defeat against Kalamata—and especially the performance put forth by the “Double-Headed Eagle” have raised serious concerns, with Alessio Lisi having just three training sessions left to prepare his team. The time available for major changes is limited, but the need for an immediate on-field response is considered urgent.
The good news concerns Giannis Michailidis. The international center back had been experiencing discomfort in his biceps, but the issue turned out to be minor and will not keep him out of action. He is expected to return to the training schedule as usual and be available to Lisi, and he even has a good chance of returning to the starting lineup against Heraklis.

The Italian coach is considering changes to the starting lineup, primarily in midfield and defense, in search of greater balance, cohesion, and improved team function. He is also considering bringing Andrija Živković back into the starting lineup after using him as a substitute against Kalamata. The goal, however, isn’t limited to individual players, as PAOK is expecting a completely different performance overall—greater intensity and more effectiveness across all lines.
The match against Heraklis takes on particular significance for Lisi himself, as the pressure on the Italian has increased following the latest result. Already having to cope with the European elimination and the disappointment from the performance against Kalamata, he knows that PAOK needs a win and a convincing response to restore calm. The Toumba derby, therefore, is a very important test for both the team and its coach.
