The Cyprus Police informs the public that on Friday, October 16, 2026, between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., a counterterrorism exercise named “CHRYSSOS 2026.”
The exercise is being organized as part of the ongoing cooperation between the Cyprus Police and the Central Bank of Cyprus.

The “CHRYSOS 2026” exercise will be conducted as a full-scale field exercise, with the aim of realistically simulating operational conditions and effectively evaluating the operational readiness and response of the participating agencies.
The purpose of the exercise is to evaluate the effectiveness of the security measures in place, to verify operational coordination procedures, and to strengthen cooperation among all relevant public and private entities, in the context of responding to a terrorist incident that affects the security of the Central Bank of Cyprus.
In addition, the exercise aims to further familiarize staff with crisis management procedures and the implementation of the Central Bank of Cyprus’s emergency plans.
Departments and units of the Cyprus Police, the Ambulance Service, the Fire Department, and the Central Bank’s Security Service will participate in the exercise.
During the exercise, an increased presence of police officers and other state forces is expected in the area of the Central Bank of Cyprus.
Additionally, as part of the exercise scenario, blank cartridges will be fired within the designated exercise areas.
The Cyprus Police informs the public that all activities are exclusively part of the scheduled exercise and there is no cause for concern.
