Paul Ingledew, 76, from Teersside, England, has stayed 75 times at the Louis Phaethon Beach Hotel in Paphos over the past 24 years.

His first visit took place in 2002, and since then, returning to Cyprus has become almost a tradition. Paul has chosen the hotel for his vacations 75 times, even traveling to Paphos three or four times in a single year during certain periods.

It all began in 2002, when Paul and his wife Christine were looking for an alternative destination, since their preferred hotel in Ibiza was unavailable. Choosing Cyprus proved to be a turning point, as the couple and their family loved the experience, and Paphos has since become a regular destination for their vacations.

Over time, the Louis Phaethon Beach Hotel became associated with some of his most important family moments, as both of his children chose to get married at that very hotel, and later they went on vacations there with their.

According to Paul himself, what sets Louis Phaethon Beach apart is, above all, its staff. As he explained, many members of the team have known him for years, and every time he arrives, they make sure his favorite drink is waiting for him.

This relationship took on even deeper meaning in 2019, when his wife, Christine, passed away suddenly. A trip to Paphos had already been planned a month later, and Paul ultimately decided to go through with it. As he has noted, he did so solely because it was the Louis Phaethon Beach, and the care he received from the hotel staff remains etched in his memory.

A new chapter in Paul’s life later began in Paphos. Janet, also a guest at the hotel, recognized him from their previous stays at Louis Phaethon Beach. Their acquaintance initially developed into a friendship and then into a romantic relationship. Today they travel together and continue to return to the place where they first met.

According to Hotel Manager Rudi De Ponte, “Paul is much more than a guest; he’s a member of the Louis Phaethon Beach family.”

At the hotel, Paul has become a very familiar face; guests and staff call him “Zumba Man” because, in his signature orange outfit, he has been participating in Zumba and karaoke activities for years, and every May 1st, he traditionally kicks off the hotel’s water slide season, marking the start of the new season.

After 75 stays, countless memories, and friendships forged, the Louis Phaethon Beach is more than just a favorite vacation destination for Paul. It’s a second home, and the people there are a family that welcomes him back every time.
