OFI avoided a home-game suspension.
The Super League disciplinary judge decided to impose a fine of 50,000 euros on the Cretan team. A major factor in this decision may have been the fact that the Cretans identified the fan who had punched the police officer and punished him by banning him from entering their stadium for the nextthree years.
This was also acknowledged by the club’s president, Maria Skolariki, who commented on OFI’s action…
“OFI’s response was entirely appropriate, but this was not an incident that took place independently of the stadium. OFI FC acknowledged this, which is why they banned him from entering the stadium. They acknowledged the seriousness of the incident”…
Olympiacos was fined a total of 6,000 euros; AEK was fined 1,500 euros; Asteras Aktor was fined 1,000 euros; and Aris was fined the same amount.
