The future of the series remains uncertain

Cristiano Ronaldo’s future with the Portuguese national team remains uncertain, with his sister, Elma Aveiro, suggesting that his return is currently less likely than his departure.

At a book launch event on Wednesday (Oct. 14), Elma Aveiro was asked about the possibility of the 41-year-old forward returning to the national team and did not hide her pessimism, describing the situation as particularly difficult.

“It’s more likely that he won’t return than that he will. I think both Cristiano and the coach, Jorge Jesus, have been hurt. It’s a situation they’ve experienced themselves, not me. I’m speaking on behalf of my brother. I think things have reached a standstill, and we’ll see what happens. I don’t know—it’s very complicated. When you feel like you’ve been betrayed, it’s very hard to get back to normal,” she said.

The sister of the Portuguese superstar also expressed her dissatisfaction with what she perceives as her compatriots’ attitude toward his contributions to the national team, emphasizing that there should be greater recognition for his achievements.

“I feel sad because, unfortunately, the Portuguese forget what has already been accomplished and think that things should be done differently now. I’m at a loss for words. It’s very hard to see my brother going through something like this. He’s one of the people who least deserves to be treated this way,” he added.
