Olympiacos heads to Barcelona aiming for a 2-2 record during “Devil’s Week”!

The “Red-and-Whites” face a tough test tonight (9:30 p.m.) at the “Palau Blaugrana” against Barcelona for the 6th round of the EuroLeague, looking to celebrate a second consecutive victory, following the one they secured last Tuesday night on the road against Valencia!

After a disappointing first half and despite trailing by 28 points at the start of the third quarter, the Piraeus team rallied and found a way to come back, ultimately pulling off one of the greatest comebacks in the history of the competition with a 102-97 in overtime, led by Montero, who was also named MVP of the game!

Thus, Olympiacos improved its record to 4-1 and remains near the top of the standings, tied with Valencia and Fenerbahçe, while trailing only the league-leading and undefeated Panathinaikos.

On the court, Giorgos Bartzokas cannot count on the services of Plota, and Bournelé, who did not travel to Spain and did not play in the game against Valencia either. Meanwhile, Dorsey was removed from the roster following his public comments regarding the limited role he has been given and returned to Greece to apologize.

As for Barcelona, it has a 3-2 record in the first five games of this year’s EuroLeague. It began its campaign with a home victory over Efes, then lost to Dubai BC and Zalgiris before defeating Besiktas, and last Tuesday, they edged out Maccabi Tel Aviv 90-87, thanks to a game-winning three-pointer by Robinson in the final moments of the game. In the Spanish league, they have 2 wins and 1 loss in their first 3 games.

Their coach, Aleksandar Sekulic, has not been able to count on Makundu so far this season, as he is sidelined by an injury and is the only player missing from the “Blaugrana” roster.

The referees for tonight’s match will be Tomislav Hordov (Croatia), Artūras Šukys (Lithuania), and Miloš Koljenšić (Montenegro).

In the teams’ matchups last season, Olympiacos won 87-75 at SEF, while Barcelona came out on top in the first-round game of the regular season, winning 98-85 at home.
