Marseille deserved at least a draw against Olympiacos, according to the team’s coach, Bruno Genesio, said at the press conference following the 0-1 loss at the “Velodrome.”
“We didn’t deserve to lose. Maybe not to win, but certainly not to lose. But the score is what it is, and we have to accept it. We played a well-organized game and had plenty of control. However, there were chances we didn’t capitalize on, as well as a weakness on set pieces that cost us dearly. This keeps happening, which means we still have a lot of work to do. It’s another major disappointment. We gave it our all, but we weren’t even rewarded with a draw, which would have been a fair result,” said the French coach.
“We’ve played eight games now, with just two wins. It’s hard to keep saying almost the same things after every match. It’s disappointing, maybe even a little frustrating. We need to work much harder and do a lot more. There are explanations, but we, the coaching staff, have been with the team for four months now. We need to move faster,” he added.
