Preparations by local authorities in the mixed village of Pyla are in full swing for tomorrow’s Bi-communal Peace Festival at 7:00 p.m., in which, for the first time, the leaders of the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot sides will participate.
Footage obtained by Alpha Cyprus shows that crews from the local municipality are setting up tables and chairs, setting up awnings and tents, while the buildings at the Community Stadium are being painted and maintained.
Cypriot food and drinks will be sold at the venue, while Nikos Christodoulides and Tufan Erhurman will attend a rich artistic program.
Pyla Community Leader Simos Mitidis stated on the Alpha News program that the Festival was held for the fifth and last time in 2019, but its activities were suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
As he explained, he had extended invitations to Mr. Christodoulides and Mr. Erchiurman to attend, which they accepted. The goal, he said, is to send a message of peace and cooperation between the two communities
