PAOK wraps up its preparations for tomorrow’s derby against Heraklis at Toumba with a major question mark. Dimitris Pelkas was unable to follow the regular training schedule due to knee discomfort, and his condition will be reevaluated during the final practice session. The circumstances are unique, as the Greek attacking midfielder was a key player in the last PAOK-Heraklis league match at Toumba, and has now reached the milestone of 250 appearances in the “Double-Headed Eagle” jersey.
Pelka’s possible absence creates an additional headache for Alesio Lisi, who is considering changes to the starting lineup following the poor performance against Kalamata. Kirill Despodov also remains sidelined due to the flu, with the coaching staff waiting until the last minute to determine what options will be available. The Italian coach wants to field a team that plays with greater intensity, better ball movement, and more efficiency in the attacking third.

In recent training sessions, a great deal of emphasis has been placed on defensive organization. The spacing between the lines, defensive cover, reactions after losing possession, and overall team cohesion are the main focus, following the problems that arose recently. At the same time, work is being done on set pieces, with Lisi seeking greater balance and stability in PAOK’s play.
The derby against Heraklis is particularly important given the need for an immediate response, as PAOK cannot afford to drop any more points. Standing alongside Lisi are André Vieirinha and Leo Matos, who are well aware of the importance of such a match and are striving, through their presence and experience, to help the soccer team put its latest setback behind it and focus exclusively on the derby.
