Kalamata-OFI: “Black-and-White” showdown against neapoli

Kickoff at 4:00 p.m.
ALPHANEWSLIVE

The Stoiximan Super League’s Sunday schedule kicks off at the Neapolis Stadium, where, at 4:00 p.m., Kalamata will host OFI as the nominal home team for the seventh round of the Greek championship.

The “Black Storm” is coming off its best performance of the year and its biggest three-point win of the season, having secured an impressive 3-1 victory over PAOK at Toumba last Monday! A thoroughly deserved victory for Panagiotis Christofileas’s squad, as his team dominated the “two-headed eagle of the north,” culminating, of course, in the image of Kalamata—the applause of recognition from PAOK fans after the final whistle!

This was the team from Messinia’s second three-point win in this year’s league, and they now sit in 10th place in the standings with 7 points. On the field, Marcelino Careazo returns to the roster, while Zidane, Pérez, Martín, Fribong, Panagiotou, and Naoumis are absent.

Kalamata’s roster: Gelios, Vasiljevic, Ginis, Bakayoko, Stroungis, Rodrigues, Gesan, Kaloutsikidis, Ignjatović, Hatzitheodoridis, Alonso, Diarra, Pinheiro, Liatsikouras, Cataldi, Hamza, Miranda, Bonetto, Sigurdsson, Vargas, Careaso, Moreira, Kurminovski, Bolívar.

On the other hand, the Cretans have now gone three consecutive games without a win. Three days ago, OFI put up a valiant effort in France against Rennes, opening the scoring early with a goal by Fountas (10′), however, they couldn’t hold on and, after conceding goals in the 76th and 90th minutes, suffered a defeat in their second match of the Europa League group stage.

Earlier, they had suffered a 3-0 away loss to AEK in Nea Filadelfia, as well as a home draw against Asteras AKTOR in the league—results that left Kontis’s team in 6th place with 10 points. As is easy to see, OFI has a lot riding on tonight’s game to get back on track with strong performances and three-point wins. On the roster, Fountas was ruled out at the last minute, as were the suspended Aitor and the injured Sielis and Iséka. Marinakis, Kalafatis, Hnaris, and Koutsoupias are not in the lineup.

The OFI roster: Christogeorgos, Lilo, Katsikas, Nikolaou, Kostoulas, Pougouras, Krizmanic, Dikman, Apostolakis, Athanasiou, Lagoudakis, Gonzalez, Kainourgiakis, Karachalios, Bouhalakis, Androutsos, Kanellopoulos, Romano, Nous, Hatzigiovanis, Sitmalidis, Theodosoulakis, Kontros.

Probable starting lineups:

Kalamata (Panagiotis Christofileas): Vasiljevic – Kaloutsikidis, Stroungis, Rodrigues, Alonso – Pinheiro, Diarra, Hamza – Vargas, Bolivar, Moreira.

OFI (Christos Kontis): Christogeorgos, Kostoulas, Pougouras, Krizmanic, Dikman, Bouhalakis, Kanellopoulos, Athanasiou, Fountas, Nous, Kontro.

Referee: Eleftherios Katopis
; Assistant Referees: Mavrokordopoulos and Koronas
; Fourth Official: Gioumatzidis
; VAR/AVAR: Tsakalidis and Megas
