Police arrested a 20-year-old man yesterday as part of an investigation into a burglary and theft from an apartment in the Nicosia District.
Specifically, on October 16, 2026, a 43-year-old woman reported to the Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department that, between June 25, 2026, and August 30, 2026, a sum of €1,360 in cash, as well as jewelry with a total value of €3,500, had been stolen from her apartment.
As part of the investigation into the case, testimony was obtained, based on which a court arrest warrant was issued against a 20-year-old security guard at the building.
Around 8:00 p.m. last night, the 20-year-old was arrested by members of the Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department. During questioning, he admitted to the burglary and theft and also identified the location where he allegedly sold the stolen goods.
At the same time, the suspect admitted to involvement in a second case involving the theft of €3,000 from a safe in the building.
The suspect is expected to be re-arrested in connection with the second case and to appear today before the Nicosia District Court for the issuance of a detention order.
The Nicosia CID is continuing its investigation.
