Panathinaikos put its loss to Hapoel Tel Aviv behind it and returned to winning ways, easily defeating Peristeri 95-75 in the third round of the Stoiximan GBL.
The “Greens” set the pace early on, built a significant lead in the first half, and left no room for doubt, cruising to the final score without any pressure. In fact, Zeljko Obradović had the opportunity to distribute playing time evenly among all 12 players on his roster.
The game also held special significance for the home team, as Kendrick Nunn and Kostas Sloukas returned to action, once again bolstering their options on the perimeter. With this victory, the “clover” went 3-0 in the league and delivered the response it was looking for after its first EuroLeague loss.
Both players had very strong performances. Nan returned in fine form with 18 points and 6 assists in 21 minutes of play, while Sloukas scored 6 points on 2-for-2 shooting from three-point range, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist in 16 minutes. Among the rest of the players, Dinos Mitoglou led the game with 16 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks, while Sylvain Francisco had 15 points, Nigel Hayes-Davis had 11, and Juancho Hernangómez had 9 points along with 11 rebounds.
On the other hand, Peristeri Betsson failed to put up a competitive performance, paying the price for its poor shooting (28-of-79 from the field, 9/36 from three-point range) and the lackluster performance of its star player, Ty Nichols, who scored 5 points on 0/10 three-pointers. Manolis Hatzidakis led the team in scoring with 13 points, while Noah Friedel added 12.
Now, Panathinaikos AKTOR turns its attention to the game against Baskonia for EuroLeague Round 7 (Oct. 22, 9:15 p.m.), while Peristeri Betsson has a “break” from European competition and will face Marousi in the “Andreas Papandreou” Arena for Round 4 of the Stoiximan GBL (Oct. 24, 9:30 p.m.).
