Panathinaikos sent its own special farewell message to Giorgos Vardinoyannis, honoring the memory of the man who led the team for more than two decades.
Before the match against Asteras AKTOR, there were emotional moments at the OAKA in memory of “The Captain,” who passed away at the age of 90 on Friday (10/16).
Upon returning to the locker rooms after finishing their warm-up, the players from both teams, the coaches, the referees, and members of both delegations each placed a flower in front of the photograph of Giorgos Vardinoyannis, which had been mounted on a special canvas at the entrance to the tunnel.
The tributes did not end there, as the Panathinaikos players took the field wearing black armbands, and a minute of silence was observed before the start of the match, following a request from the “Greens.”
