Olympiada Neapoleos – RoboMarkets AEL: With new faces and high hopes for the first title of the year

"battle" for the super cup
ALPHANEWSLIVE

Two teams with quite a few new faces, a championship game, and at stake is the first trophy of the 2026–2027 season: Olympiada Neapolis and RoboMarkets AEL will face off on Monday, October 19, at 8:00 p.m. at “Lefkotheo” with the 2026–2027 Allwyn Women’s Volleyball Super Cup up for grabs!

Olympiada Neapolis has been the champion for the past four years, both in the Super Cup and in all other domestic competitions, but compared to last year, there have been major changes: Title-winning coach Milan Ljubišić has been succeeded by Alexis Kamperidis, who until last year coached AEL’s U-18 team, while all the star players from previous years have left the refugee team’s roster.
The club’s future now rests on three new American players: setter Piper Matsumoto, opposite hitter Natalie Mitchem, and outside hitter Mariana Sharp, as only Greek middle blocker Christina Pataridou remains from last year’s core roster. In addition, the team acquired experienced Bulgarian-born libero Stefani Popolitova from AEK Larnaca and promoted several talented young players.

On the other hand, RoboMarkets AEL, the tournament’s most successful team with 12 titles between 1995–96 and 2011–12, hopes to win its 13th title this year—the “lucky” one that has eluded the team for nearly a decade and a half. The team enters this season with high expectations and a new coach, Italian Pasqualino Giangrosi, who replaced his compatriot Enrico Quarta. The team’s three foreign players also bring “new
blood”: Montenegrin setter Marija Sušić and Americans Torrance Lavsey (outside hitter) and Erin Jones (opposite), in a season marked by a thirst to return to championship glory.
