He's missing the season

Ben Simmons’ return to the NBA has been postponed indefinitely… The Australian guard suffered a torn Achilles tendon during Sunday’s practice, just a few days before the start of the new season, and will therefore miss the entire 2026–27 season.

The 30-year-old star, who was out of the league last season, had a very strong showing at Sacramento’s training camp, and had played in two exhibition games, averaging 10.5 points in 17.5 minutes of playing time. On September 4, he signed a one-year, $3.5 million contract with the goal of getting his career back on track. However, luck turned its back on him.

He, however, isn’t giving up. “I’ve faced challenges in the past that tested me mentally, physically, and emotionally, and I found a way to overcome each one of them. This injury is just another chapter in my journey, not the end of my story,” he wrote on social media, adding: “It’s never easy to be away from the sport you love, especially after everything I had to go through to get back here. But if I’ve learned anything, it’s that difficulties don’t define you. What defines you is how you react to them.”
