Without Konstantinos Karetsas, the Dortmund squad departed for Azerbaijan ahead of their Champions League match against Sabah.
The 19-year-old attacking midfielder suffered an ankle injury in Saturday’s match against Union. It appears he avoided serious injury, but he will miss at least the upcoming league match against Eintracht.
“He won’t be traveling with us to Baku, and he won’t be able to play against Eintracht Frankfurt either. Beyond that, we’ll have to assess his condition on a day-to-day basis. It’s naturally frustrating, but to be honest, we feared something worse, considering how his teammates reacted and how he limped off the field,”, emphasized Borussia’s sporting director, Lars Ricken.
It is still unclear whether Karetsas will be available for the national team’s Nations League matches against the Netherlands on the road (Nov. 13) and Serbia at home (Nov. 16).
