A total of 32 people were arrested yesterday, Sunday, in Milan, and 271 violent protesters were taken into custody. It appears that 220 of them are minors and 60 are foreign nationals.
Meanwhile, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is set to preside today over an emergency meeting at the Palazzo Chigi government headquarters to discuss public order management.
A text from a previously unknown movement called “October 17” was posted online today, stating that “the protests will continue until the Meloni government falls” and that “there will be ongoing protests every Saturday in a number of Italian cities.”
“You are the violent ones who denied us a future; now we will take it back,” the post states, which also offers “advice” on how protesters can avoid arrest before or after the demonstrations.
Sources within the Italian Ministry of the Interior have let it be known that it is very difficult to control these specific demonstrations because they are often organized on very short notice. In the past few hours, a new protest march was announced for October 24 in Turin, and a mass demonstration is planned for October 30 in Rome.
