Multibillionaire Elon Musk, a political supporter of the Republicans and U.S. President Donald Trump, said today that in 2027 he will give one share of his SpaceX stock “to every child” in the U.S.
“Next year, I will give one of my SpaceX shares to every child in the U.S.,” Musk wrote in a post on X.
“This will be the first in a long series,” he noted, without providing any further details about his plan.
Two weeks before the U.S. midterm elections, Musk’s announcement is reminiscent of the promise Trump made in September, when he stated that he would offer a “dividend” $5,000 to every American citizen if the Republicans retained control of Congress.
With SpaceX’s initial public offering (IPO), Musk set the record for the largest IPO in history to date, raising $85.7 billion in June.
According to Forbes data, the billionaire holds a 38% stake in SpaceX.
In 2024, based on official U.S. data, there were 73 million children and young people under the age of 18 in the country.
