Cristiano Ronaldo was suspended for 30 days and fined 255 euros for leaving the Portuguese national team’s camp in Denmark, during the recent international break.
The penalty was announced by the Disciplinary Committee of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF), following an investigation into the disciplinary case brought against the captain of the Portuguese national team, who, it should be noted, had already been provisionally suspended.
The decision states that the Disciplinary Council upheld in its entirety the charge against Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro for intentionally committing a disciplinarymisconduct, which is provided for and punishable under Article 160, paragraph 1, of the federation’s disciplinary regulations. Consequently, it imposed a 30-day suspension on him, as well as a fine of 2.5 units, equivalent to 255 euros.
Since the Portuguese national team’s next match is scheduled for November 14 and the incident occurred on September 30, the day before the match against Denmark in Copenhagen, Ronaldo will be available for the matches against the Scandinavian team on November 14 and against Wales on November 17 in Cardiff.
Now, the decision rests with Jorge Jesus, who will decide whether or not to include the Al-Nassr forward in Portugal’s final matches of the Nations League group stage, following the controversy that came to light during the last international break.
