Former Deputy Attorney General Loukis Loukaidis pleaded not guilty to two charges brought against him today, Tuesday, in connection with a case involving the embezzlement of compensation funds—amounting to approximately 177,000 euros—resulting from the expropriation of real estate. The hearing for the case has been set for February 9, 2027.
The case arose following a complaint by the estate administrator of a deceased person regarding the failure to transfer the amount paid by the Municipality of Limassol, which was received, as a lawyer, Mr. Loukaidis, as compensation for the expropriation of her property.
This morning, Loukis Loukaidis appeared before the Limassol Permanent Criminal Court, which read him the charges of theft by an agent and money laundering.
The former Deputy Attorney General pleaded not guilty to both charges, and the court set the start of the trial for February 9, 2027.
It should be noted that, in statements to KYPE, Loukis Loukaidis said that the case dates back to around 2008, when he was commissioned by an estate administrator to file a lawsuit against the Limassol Municipality, for failure to provide compensation for the expropriation of the deceased’s property, which was demolished to make way for a road.
After the District Court dismissed the lawsuit, an appeal was filed, and the Court of Appeals instructed the Limassol Municipality to seek an out-of-court settlement, with Mr. Loukaidis taking charge of negotiating the amount, which was set at €177,108.12.
According to him, he collected the money to hand it over; however, the administrator ceased to perform his duties and his whereabouts were unknown, resulting in years passing, and he was later asked to hand over the money when a new estate administrator took over.
She also claimed that she had expressed her intention to return the money in installments; however, she was later informed that a complaint had been filed, and the case was brought before the Criminal Court.
