The Department of Road Transport informs consumers that, according to information received from the Consumer Protection Agency, during the 40th and 41st weeks of 2026, the European Union’s (EU) early warning system website for dangerous non-food products (Safety Gate) published notifications regarding the dangerous products listed below.
Further details regarding these hazardous products can be accessed through Safety Gate using each product’s alert number.
The Department urges manufacturers, authorized representatives, manufacturers’ distributors, importers, and sellers—including those operating online or remotely—who may have placed or are placing such products on the market in the Republic of Cyprus, to notify the Department of Road Transport accordingly.
Please note that if these products are available in the Republic of Cyprus, the above-mentioned economic operators are required to take all necessary measures to ensure that these products are recalled as provided for in the relevant legislation.
The Department also urges consumers who own the following:
i. cars or motorcycles, to contact the manufacturer or the manufacturer’s representative or distributor for instructions. Ownership of the above vehicles is also verified based on the vehicle registration certificate (title) and the information contained therein (e.g., manufacturing range, model type/number).
ii. parts, where deemed appropriate, to stop using them and return them immediately to the place from which they were purchased (if possible), informing the seller accordingly.
In the event that a manufacturer, authorized representative, distributor of the manufacturer, importer, or seller refuses to honor the consumer’s rights as described above, the consumer is urged to submit a written complaint through the Consumer Protection Service’s website.
For further information, consumers may contact the Department of Road Transport or email [email protected].
