This year marks the 10th anniversary of the founding of the “Hands of Love” Volunteer Group, which is changing the lives of thousands of children in Cyprus and Africa.
On Wednesday, October 21, at 7 p.m., the Group’s Annual General Meeting will be held at the House of Letters and Arts in Larnaca, where a review of the year’s projects will take place, the new Board of Directors will be elected, and information will be provided regarding the volunteer missions to Uganda scheduled for 2027.
On Friday, November 13, at 8 p.m., the Group’s Anniversary Dinner will take place at Galu Seaside in Larnaca, featuring a performance by musicians Michalis and Panagiota Kontovourki.
Over the past ten years, through small acts of volunteerism, major projects have been carried out that have had a tremendous impact on the quality of life of our fellow human beings in Cyprus and Uganda. Hundreds of “Sponsors of Love” voluntarily contribute whatever amount they choose, supporting not just one child but entire school communities. With no paid staff and no administrative costs, this is achieved solely through the anonymous contribution of time, knowledge, and resources from hundreds of volunteers and sponsors.
In Uganda, schools, kitchens, and dining halls have been built; schools and boarding schools have been connected to water and electricity; with the goal of empowering thousands of children through education and freeing them from poverty and exploitation.
In Cyprus, air conditioners have been installed at the Chr. Kasapi Foundation for People with Disabilities, a bus has been purchased for the DEPY Association, and organizations such as the Right to Hope for People with Disabilities, the Vela Foundation, Sistema, and others have been supported.
The Group’s long-standing efforts demonstrate in practice that volunteerism is not limited to charity, but is a force for social change that unites people, fosters active participation, and leaves a lasting positive impact on society.
The events are open to anyone who wishes to contribute to the Group’s work.
