In a video lasting three minutes and five seconds, Averof Neophytou announces his candidacy for the 2028 presidential election and asks the Democratic Rally supporters for a vote of confidence, in order to secure the party’s nomination.
In his announcement, Mr. Neophytou speaks about transparency, the Cyprus issue, and the role of the Democratic Alarm in addressing the key issues facing society.

Throughout Cyprus, in our cities and villages, people are working hard but are struggling to make ends meet.
High prices and the cost of electricity and fuel are putting a strain on households and businesses.
Young people are struggling to pay rent, and homeownership remains an unattainable dream.
On the Cyprus issue, the stalemate harbors new dangers.
Cyprus cannot and will not remain divided.
A change of course is imperative.
We need leadership that understands how the state functions, that makes decisions and delivers results.
I want to offer my knowledge and experience to help us address these challenges.
Without regard for political costs, but guided by the best interests of society.
The Democratic Alarm has played a decisive role, given all we’ve achieved for our country during difficult times.
Together with its members, I have fought common battles and shared both successes and disappointments.
Together, we have defended our principles and values.
With a sense of responsibility toward our party.
And, above all, toward our Cyprus and its people,
Today I am announcing my decision to ask my fellow candidates in the Democratic Alarm for their vote of confidence for the 2028 presidential election.
I am seeking a new social contract with the citizens:
To listen,
act,
and to be accountable.
This commitment will guide our efforts to unite our party and earn the trust of society.
To champion change in the country’s governance through political partnerships, giving a voice to civil society.
For a strong economy that creates prosperity for all, that improves people’s daily lives, and that enhances their well-being.
For a modern state that serves its citizens.
For a free and safe homeland.
I ask for the trust and support of our party’s members so that we can move forward together.
To put into practice the changes our country needs.
To give our young people hope and a future once again.
