Yiannis Karousos considered Averof Neophytou’s entry into the race through the Democratic Alarm’s procedures a foregone conclusion, and says that now, with the video announcing his candidacy, he is making it clear.

“I’ve always said—it was always part of this process that Averof would participate; perhaps I was the only one, but I think he’s making that clear now,” said Yiannis Karousos, Vice President of the Democratic Rally, from the studio of the “Alpha News” program.
When asked whether Mr. Neophytou’s video indicates whether he will run through the DISY procedures, he states that Averof Neophytou clearly states that he is addressing the voters of the Democratic Alarm.
Responding to a question about whether there was anxiety at Pindarou, he says:
“For me personally, it was obvious from the start that Averof Neophytou would participate in the procedures because, as I’ve explained many times and publicly, a person—the former president of the Democratic Alarm— your candidate for the 2023 presidential election—given everything we went through in ’23— there was no other option but for Averof Neophytou to run through the party’s procedures.”
